Nuts

  • To toast nuts, place in a dry pan over medium or medium-low heat.  Stir them frequently, and don't walk away from the pan for very long!  It's so easy to burn them.  Once they're very aromatic and are just starting to brown, turn off the heat; they'll continue to toast on their own.
  • To remove the skins from almonds, pour boiling water over them and let sit for a few minutes.  The skins will then come off easily.
