- Leeks are those huge, green onion-looking things that are usually sold in bunches of three.
- They often contain tons of dirt between their layers. To clean leeks: Cut off and discard most of the green parts (depending on your recipe), slice the leek lengthwise so you have two half-cylinders, fill a bowl with water and open up the layers with your fingers while running the leek through the water, and repeat until there’s no more dirt.
