I am two things. Indecisive, and a book nerd. Mix them together, throw in 24 hours in a van and four or five beach days, and this is what you get in my suitcase:
Yes, I actually packed all of these. No, I won’t read them all on this vacation. But I like to have two or three books going at once, and it’s so hard to predict what kind of mood I’ll be in! Let’s hope everyone else in the van, who was told to pack lightly, doesn’t find out… but it’s much better than when I used to haul drums and guitars everywhere I went. Speaking of music, you could say I’m on a bit of a Conor Oberst kick right now, so I brought a few of his solo albums and some Bright Eyes with me.
Also for the ride, we have lots of food to eat. Eating well on the road is hard enough when you CAN eat meat, let alone when you can’t. We brought fruit, nuts, FEED granola, and we made a batch of Christine’s energy bars too. It pays to have a health-conscious baker for a sister! And of course, my Recovery Socks, which are supposed to be great for travel, when you can’t move around much.
My knees and shins have felt a little stiff and sore since my 5k on Sunday, so I’ve given my legs the past two days off. This was probably the wrong thing to do, since as soon as I started running today, everything started to feel much better. Maybe the time off only serves to make things tighter, so I’m going to try to get in more easy runs and see how that works. I’m a little worried about a tender spot on my shin–I got a stress fracture during the training for my first marathon, so I’m always paranoid about shin pain. But as of yet, it hasn’t hurt me during runs, and until it does I’ll do my best not to worry about it.I have a 17-miler planned while I’m in Hilton Head, so if there’s anything wrong, that will certainly make it obvious!
I’ll be checking in a few times during my vacation, but in the meantime I’ve lined up some guest posts that I’m really excited about! That includes another Sweet Tooth Friday from Christine; something really funny happened to her this week that I can’t wait to read about.
Alright, I’m off for some fun in the sun; catch you later! And keep signing up for those 30-Day Challenges. Only five days left!
