What would it take for you to really thrive in your active, plant-based lifestyle?
What would it look like to be the best example you could possibly be of someone who is fit, healthy, and eats a plant-based diet?
To me, the answer — and the problem that keeps people from getting the results they want — is clear. But I only recently discovered what it was.
A while back, I sent around a survey to some of the No Meat Athlete audience, asking questions like the ones above. I was hoping to identify a few frustrations people have with their diet and fitness so that I could help ease them.
But it turned out that there weren’t just one or two areas where people needed help. There were about 20 topics that kept coming up — over, and over, and over. Everything from finding the time and motivation to eat healthily, to workout-specific nutrition strategies, to how to keep from getting injured and run a fast marathon or ultra.
Even more puzzling: a lot of these were topics I had written about on my blog before. So why were people still struggling with this stuff?
To squeeze all you can out of life, you need to create habits that lead to success.
We all know this. And yet, for most of us, it’s really hard to make changes that last.
Think about it: When you try to make changes in your life, does it work? Or do you usually lose your motivation before the change can become a habit, and soon enough, find yourself right back where you started?
There’s another problem, too: It’s that even when you read a long blog post that inspires you to change, translating that into real-world action almost never happens.
And what about podcasts? While podcast episodes are fun, they’re most often just light conversations, meant for casual listening —- not making real changes to become healthier, fitter, happier.
Neither blog posts nor podcasts have any kind of continuity … no easy way for you to digest the information, come back and ask questions, get them answered in detail, and repeat.
In short, blog posts and podcasts are “for everyone.” But people who are really serious about learning and improvement need information that is targeted, in-depth, and action-focused.
This all led to a big idea. For a full year now, we’ve been testing the format, adding new content, and figuring out what works.
And now it’s my pleasure to introduce and invite you into the No Meat Athlete Academy: A private membership community where you can learn how to really thrive in your active, plant-based lifestyle.
The premise of the Academy is simple
Each month we choose a single topic, something that’s a big frustration for a lot of people in your shoes or an area where there’s potential for major improvement. Often, we bring in an expert — someone who has that problem completely figured out, and is getting results anyone else would love to get — to help us out.
Over the course of the month, we dive into the topic in several ways — usually audio seminars, but some PDF and even video content as well. And then we follow up — in the form of live Q&A sessions, so you can get answers to your questions after you’ve had a chance to listen to the seminars and review the supporting materials.
And along the way, you have the support of a community of like-minded people, many of them pursuing the same goals you are, through the exclusive, Academy members-only group on Facebook.
What You’ll Get Each Month Inside the Academy
Here’s what membership in the No Meat Athlete Academy includes, each and every month:
Education – Each month there’s new, in-depth content about that month’s topic — something specific within plant-based diet, fitness and sports, or healthy lifestyle. Content is a mix of audio, text, and (soon!) video, sometimes with the help of a guest expert. These are be supplemented by a next-action worksheet for those who learn best that way. These sessions are the core of the Academy’s content, and they’re action-oriented and focused.
Monthly Q&A Session – At least once a month, I host a live video Q&A session. While the questions here can focus on the month’s seminar topic, they don’t have to. This is your chance to get advice or get unstuck with anything related to diet, fitness, lifestyle, and mindset. Some months, I’ll also present something about monthly topic via a live webinar, in which case there will be more Q&A time there as well.
Connection – Brand new for this year: We are opening a private Facebook group just for Academy members. No outsiders allowed. That means you’ll have a friendly, welcome place filled with other Academy members to support you and help you on your plant-based journey.
You can share your challenges, your victories, and for you veterans that have been at this for a while — you can share your wisdom with the rookies. We need people like you to show others the way.
If you’re ever stuck, as your question and get instant answers inside the No Meat Athlete community.
What We Cover in the Academy
In many ways, the topics we focus on each month are decided by what Academy members want, but here’s a sampling of the type of topics we’ve covered or have plans to cover:
- How to find the time for a healthy plant-based diet and active lifestyle
- How to create a meal plan that supports your individual needs and goals
- How to form rock-solid habits, stay motivated, and be consistent
- Injury-free running
- How to fuel for performance in a workout or race
- Achieving your body’s ideal weight
- Setting big, “unreasonable” goals (and following through with them)
- Quick, simple, plant-based recipes, cooking strategies, and snack options, for when you’re busy but want to eat well
- How to transition to a plant-based diet to make sure it lasts
- Increasing the variety in your plant-based diet
- Finding the balance between health, family, work, and personal fitness goals
- How to deal with all the conflicting information about diet (you know: soy, coconut oil, oils, gluten, salt, fruit, etc.)
- Overcoming common obstacles (like the weather or food cravings) that keep you from doing what you know you should to make progress
- Making a plant-based diet work in the real world: keeping cost down, dealing with others, finding good food when it’s inconvenient (at races, traveling, etc.)
To me, it’s clear that if you were to handle just one of these areas each month, in-depth and completely, you’d have a wealth of knowledge (that you’ve actually implemented) and be pretty darn confident in the state of your diet and fitness level, even after just a few months. And that, right there, is why I’m so excited about the Academy.
And of course, each month’s content will be archived in the site’s library, so you’ll always be able to come back and revisit whichever seminars and Q&A sessions you choose.
How Much Does It Cost?

100% No-Risk Guarantee
Like I said, the Academy isn’t meant to be for everyone. Here’s an easy way for you to decide if it’s for you.
Check it out for 30 days. Listen to the seminars. Read the notes & actions sheets. Attend the live Q&A’s. Ask questions, and get answers. Connect.
If anytime during that first month, you decide you’re not completely satisfied and you’d like to cancel your subscription and get a 100% refund, just send me an email and let me know (firstname.lastname@example.org).
No questions asked. I’m not into weird stuff. If it’s not for you, it’s not for you, and I’ll appreciate that you gave it a try.
“But Matt, what if I join and never use the material?”
I know how it feels to pay for something and then never use it, and the last thing I want is for you to feel like you’re not getting anything out of your membership. That’s exactly one of the reasons why I created the new Facebook group. If you get stuck or hit a slump, you’ll visit the group and find the motivation to keep going. Having the other members to hold you accountable will make you much more likely to use the material.
And if you still don’t use it – no worries. That’s what the guarantee is for. Either way you’ll avoid feeling like you made a bad call by signing up.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much new content will I get each month?
On average there will be three hours of new content each month, through a combination of the monthly audio/video/text seminars followed by video/audio Q&A sessions. Now and then we might have a few bonus seminars, too.
What’s the difference between an Academy seminar and a No Meat Athlete podcast?
They really don’t compare. Podcasts are light, mostly improvised conversations, meant to entertain — so you can pop one on during your run or commute to help you zone out and pass the time. Listen once, then delete.
Academy seminars are about learning — about a specific topic, each month — more than entertainment. While we keep them relaxed, so that you can still listen to an Academy seminar on a run, chances are you’ll want to listen to it again. And maybe again.
Each seminar also comes with a Notes & Actions worksheet, and a followup Q&A session on that topic so that you can listen, digest, and then get answers to your questions.
How does monthly billing work?
Your No Meat Athlete Academy Membership is a monthly, recurring membership. This means that your credit card will be automatically billed each month when your membership comes up for renewal.
You can cancel your membership at any time, which will prevent any future re-billing, and at which point you’ll continue to have access to the Academy until your membership term is complete.
What if I don’t love it?
If you’re still reading, I’m pretty sure you’ll love the Academy. But if you don’t, just let me know within your first month of membership (email@example.com) and I’ll process a refund for you right away — no games, no questions, no weirdness.
